American Idol-atry

I'm not really a huge reality tv person. I did start watching the Amazing Race this past year, since it keeps winning Emmys and I wanted to see what the hype is about. I do love Top Model, but I consider that my dirty pleasure. But over the past few years, I have faithfully watched American Idol. Mind you, it only takes me about 20 minutes to watch the whole thing on DVR, since I don't give a crap about backstories, mentors, or judges comments. I just want to hear the performances, and I have my own opinion on whether the person did well or not.

This year, the media frontrunner, and my personal favorite, is Crystal Bowersox. The girl can SING. I flove her. In my office, we have a lot of die-hard Idol fans - we have a pool every week to see who goes home. This week is final four, and the guys in my office are actually thinking Crystal is going home because she's "not marketable". Why can't people vote purely on performance? Ugh.

Anyway, last night, she sang "I'm Alright" from Caddyshack. Yes. Caddyshack.
I hope people vote for her just for that alone. Awesome.

Hey there, cupcake

I'm pondering the cupcake shop craze. They're popping up all over the place around the NY/NJ area. Did people JUST realize that cupcakes are awesome? Or were the bakeries just trying to force people to purchase full-size cakes all these years? Hmm.

These cupcake places are selling their wares for somewhere between $2.50 and $4.00 a pop. It costs less than that to make 2 dozen at home. And yeah, they're tasty, but really? $4 for a cupcake? Damn, we're suckers.

Crankypants

You know when you just KNOW that you don't want to be in a good mood? Be it hormonal, seasonal, environmental - you just know that the day it not going to lead to anything even remotely okay. It's a crankypants day.

The 15 year old car I just paid $480 dollars just to pass inspection stalled 3 times. This morning. On Route 23 in insanity morning traffic. Seriously, car, we cannot do this. Not only can I not afford to fix you (again), but really? In traffic? Shit.

Two people are out in my department, one is having personal issues, and one will most undoubtedly be late. Sigh.

Yeah, yeah, nothing tremendous, I know. Just whiny, I guess.

Show me the way to go home...

I got to work a little early in the hopes of going home a little early, and sheesh! does the day drag more when you don't stick to the schedule. Don't know if it's the weather (cloudy/drizzling), the biological stuff (duh, I'm a girl), or what. My bed was SOOOOOO comfy this morning, and I really really didn't want to leave it. Alas, here I am, making an effort. Or pretending to.

Fashion alert: high, calf length boots are now unacceptable, unless your pants are hiding them. Then they are merely questionable. Uggs are still unacceptable. As they always have been.

Thank the good Lord for Walmart. I bought some new T-shirts this weekend, since I am apparently a slob that puts stained shirts back in the closet to be re-discovered when I take out the spring/summer clothes. What the crap are these stains? From where I dropped food while eating and driving? Cooking? What?!? I guess I had it in mind to wash the slightly stained clothing and then put it in the donations bin, but in the haste to put away laundry, forgot and put them back in the closet. And now, 6 months later, here they are. Still unwearable. So, off to the Walmart I went for $5 t-shirts. Why Walmart? Why the $5 crap? Because, dear reader, of the aforementioned stains on the other shirts. Not spending good money on stuff I wreck too quickly.

Okay, Okay

So, I started writing the blog when I (finally, after years) wanted to write again. And then, around November, I lost the want again. I'm going to make the effort. Spring has sprung, things are coming to life, I think I will too.

Stay tuned.
